With sales of €365 million down just slightly on 2019 (€380 million), last year was a good one for Lemken, which confirms a healthy demand for seed drills and the newly-introduced fertiliser spreaders. Steketee hoeing technology also performed well in 2020 with sales up by a third.
“We have achieved our ambitious goals for both sales and results and are very satisfied, even though we exited the field sprayer sector,” comments Lemken managing director Antony van der Ley.
He says the company has managed the challenges of Covid well by providing many smaller-scale demonstrations and digital offerings.
“However, we would certainly be delighted if we were able to have face-to-face contacts and events again soon so that we can demonstrate the benefits of our methods on the fields for everybody to see.”
The German market remained consistently high last year, but international sales accounted for 77% of total sales. The largest markets included France, Russia, North America and the UK (substantial increases in sales for the last three).
Given the high level of incoming orders, the family-run business is very optimistic for this year.
