The 12mm thick tine has an aggressive nose with a carbide tip. Looking very similar to a Weaving Sabre tine, it is designed for direct seeding or into cultivated ground.
The Megant also benefits from ISObus compatible controls and the SH1120 mini seeder with 110l hopper can be mounted at the rear for micro fertilisers or other seeds at a rate of 0.5-60kg/ha. Other widths are planned for the future.
Other Kuhn drill news concerns the Espro trailed cultivator drill. On display was the 4.0m wide Espro 4000RC which is capable of placing four different products at three different depths. This is achieved by splitting the main hopper 50:50 and adding a SH1120 seeder at the front of the machine and a second SH at the rear. The latter is offered with different hopper capacities.
The product is then placed by the ‘fertiliser’ disc coulters which are positioned after the cultivating discs and run between the rear seed coulters. At the rear there is a row of splash plates.
This multi-product option is going to be available on the 3.0, 4.0, 6.0 and 8.0m Espro.
