If you like buttons, then the new Fendt armrest will be right up your street. The new controller will be rolled out on the firm’s two largest selling ranges the Vario 300 and 700 models initially in Germany, France and the UK in 2020.
Part of the bigger so called FendtOne package will be a telemetry system, which like similar offerings from other manufacturers, allows the boss in the office to send application information and other data straight to the tractor.
What will probably be of more interest to operators is a new armrest controller option. As well as a new main multi-function stick the cross controller has had a revamp and now includes a powershuttle switch.
On the main 3L joystick you can now assign various functions to the many different buttons. For quick reference the buttons change colour to show the assigned function (which spool valve for instance) especially useful if there has been a different operator in the seat who has meddled with your set-up. The 3L has up to three operating levels and up to 27 functions depending on spec. The 3L can even be used to look after ISObus connected implements with plugs for the latter now front and rear.
As well as a 12in armrest display the 9in dash screen can also be used to show Fendt Guide features as well as the usual tractor data. The dash display can be controlled by a push dial on the side console. There is also an optional third 12in screen located to the right of the operator and lowers from the roof with a semi-retracted position to improve visibility on the road. Up to six configurable displays can be shown on the two 12in screens.
On the 700s there will be the option of the 4.1 infotainment system which has just been introduced on the Gen6 Vario 900s.
