Aiming to cater for the needs of large AD plants and high-output contracting fleets, JCB has added a new loading shovel to its Agri line-up.
Tipping the scales at 20t, the 457S gets its power from a 282hp Cummins motor, and boasts a 6.0t payload to suit larger 16 foot buck rakes and hefty toe-tip buckets. To compare, 435S models weigh in about 16t, with 252hp under the bonnet providing 17hp/t, where the 457S offers 14hp/t.
More than just speccing an industrial shovel on ag tyres, new ZF six-speed transmission is featured with torque lockup in every gear. Heavier duty axles have also been fitted, allowing monstrous 800mm-wide rubber to be fitted.
Top speed is 48km/hr, and JCB’s Command Plus cab is featured with the option of a contractor pro pack to give operators a few more creature comforts such as a swathe of LED work lights, heated/ventilated seat, carpet, fridge and all important chrome exhaust stack.
