The linkage mounted mudguard extensions added to Chafer Machinery’s options list are designed to keep trailed sprayers clean in even the dirtiest of conditions.
Protecting a trailed sprayer from the build-up of dirt on control surfaces and boom (preventing damage and nozzle blockages), there are other systems on the market, but to the best of our knowledge this is the first guard from a sprayer manufacturer.
The mountings are designed to fit Cat II, III and IV linkages, with the lower link pins being reversible depending on what is required.
It is quite a large piece, so the company advises having two people to lift the guard over the sprayer drawbar and pipework.
Easier to fit before attaching the sprayer, each side is mounted to the horizontal tubing using Stuaf clamps, allowing the guard to be moved in and out to suit different track widths.
Designed by Chafer, with fabrication and finishing contracted to local suppliers, the top panels are made from PVC, the moulded flap from reinforced rubber and the frame is powder coated steel. Available now, the price is £680 (+VAT) plus delivery.
“We have introduced the guard to solve a problem for trailed sprayer customers,” says Joe Allen from Chafer sales and marketing, “but the product is obviously useful for any trailed implement so we expect to sell a good number outside of our usual customer base.”
