A free rider competency training course is available to anyone in the UK purchasing a new Yamaha ATV.
Conducted by the European ATV Safety Institute (EASI), the one-day training, which normally costs £180 + VAT per rider, can be completed at one of 38 centres throughout the country.
EASI advises that all riders, including those with years of experience, make the most of this offer. “Even experienced riders can find themselves in potentially hazardous situations that can, without the correct training and knowledge, result in serious accidents,” says Amy Morris, EASI UK regional operations manager.
“Our training courses highlight general machine checks, upkeep, weight distribution and active riding, which is imperative when operating on uneven, rutted terrain which is so often found on farms,” continues Mrs Morris.
Riders are expected to supply their own ATV’s. As well as teaching safe riding techniques, the course covers safety clothing and protective equipment, pre-ride inspections, risk assessment and environmental issues.
“We have always advocated ATV operators being trained to use any machines, so to help improve driver competency we offer these courses free of charge,” says William Kay, Yamaha ATV manager.
Yamaha is one of six sponsors of EASI’s UK operation. Buyers who purchase a new or used ATV from one of the other five sponsors (Honda, Kawasaki, Polaris, Suzuki and BRP) via an authorised UK dealer are also eligible for free or subsidised training.
