It is 20 years since Spearhead Machinery launched the Multicut 460 flex wing rotary mower in 2001. To mark the occasion the company has produced a special edition version.
Finished in grey, the Y20 has the same 4.6m cutting width and minimum tractor power requirement as the standard model. Yet, it provides a higher level of specification at a price (£26,500) that rivals the standard 460, which retails at £27,385. We are informed that most main dealers are running dedicated promotional campaigns within their respective territories.
The specification includes the new and stronger 165hp gearbox (five-year warranty), which delivers 50% more power when required, comes with oversized shafts and gears and a fully protected lower seal.
The Starcut knife system won an innovation award silver medal at the 2007 Agritechnica.
The spec also includes the six-blade Starcut knife system, which is capable of claimed outputs of at least 10ha/hr, smaller mulch and a more even spread.
Other features include Hydragas suspension to reduce shock loads, wider wheels, a flat centre deck for easier maintenance and a toughened deck structure.
“This is a great year for the Multicut 460”, comments Antony Prince, director of sales and marketing at Spearhead, who says it is a further credit to the devoted UK development team.
