The AR Quad safety bar does not raise the centre of gravity of the vehicle as it sits lower than the operator when not deployed.
The first Air-Rops product available from new UK and Ireland distributor Boss Orv, the electronic control unit in the fully automatic Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) continuously monitors the behaviour of the machine. Acoustic and visual signals warn the rider when the ATV is about to reach a state where stability is compromised.
The system automatically evaluates the rollover condition until a tilting state is reached and, only when the tilt takes place, activates the rollover bar. The control unit operates the inflator, and the gas is fully released, extending the bar and the mechanism locks.
The final position after deployment of the safety bar is limited to a maximum of 90 degrees. This prevents full rollover which, reckons Boss Orv, not only helps minimise personal injury but also reduces machine damage.
Fitting most ATVs with independent suspension using bolts on the luggage carrier and towbar, installation is said to be easy as the safety bar comes fully assembled and only requires the dealer to perform simple electrical and mechanical actions.
No scheduled maintenance is required and the safety bar is reusable after a rollover. It just needs to be inspected and approved by an ATV technician, and the gas generator can be replaced to return the bar to its original condition.
