The new generation of 700 Vario is anything but a subtle update. The Gen 7 brings big Fendt tractor features to the 200-300hp segment.

The 724 has been a Fendt bestseller pretty much since it was launched. However, the competition has pretty much caught up on most of the tech and features, this weakening the salesperson argument of it being a premium product. With this in mind the German tractor manufacturer has looked to the big 900 and 1000 series to inspire its new 700 Vario Gen 7 line and give it the extra features on which Fendt has built its reputation.

Straight from the off it’s worth pointing out that the five new 700 series tractors do not replace the current 144hp to 237hp, 714 to 724 Gen 6 models. When you look at the new Gen 7 range it kicks off with the 720 model (149kW/203hp) while the top model, the 728, has a rated output of up to 206kW/283hp. This top model is also the only one to get the Dynamic Performance power boost, which adds up to 15kW/20hp as soon as secondary consumers such as the cooling fan need the extra power.

Purely looking at those horsepower stats, the new Gen 7 looks more of a replacement for the Vario 800, although this range is already hanging on in there — but the question is for how long, at least in its current guise?
