After around five years of intensive development work between Krone and Lemken on its VTE project, we stand at the edge of the field and watch the autonomous tractor stoically mow a path across a grass field — without any form of human intervention.

Both companies say the driving force behind this autonomous project has been to grab hold of the reins and ensure that the focus remains on the quality of work the implement achieves in the field. After all, both parties are predominantly machinery manufacturers, so they clearly take a slightly different stance on what a tractor should look like. In short, there are no preconceptions.
