DRIVING IMPRESSION: Going forward, all Xerions will be kitted out with the new Eccom 5.5 transmission from ZF. Find out why and what else has changed on the latest Xerion updates.
To date, Claas Xerion models have not only differed in terms of their power, but, depending on the hydraulics pack, they also use either a ZF Eccom 4.5 or 5.0 transmission. However, thanks to an additional pump transfer case on ZF’s new Eccom 5.5, the three models will now be known as the 784.1 variant and will use the same transmission.
In addition to the standard hydraulics system with 205l/min, there will also be an optional tandem pump for up to 422l/min total instead of the 80l/min auxiliary circuit. For platform mounted kit such as slurry tanks, as well as for front-mounted implements, there is still
the alternative of the separate 90kW high performance hydraulic circuit with 250l/min at 260 bar — superb!
More oil, more functions
At the rear, you can spot the new features on the oil couplers, which are finally set farther back. Larger diameter pipes on one or two spools ensure up to 140l/min can be supplied. Two standard spool valves and three optional spools (in optional tandem pump spec) can be prioritised using the Cebis terminal.
