DRIVING IMPRESSION: Ukrainian manufacturer Kobzarenko claims its chaser bins are an inexpensive way to boost combine output. We picked the 20m3 model to stand and deliver.

You may recall in our Agritechnica report there was a huge chaser bin on tracks and painted in camouflage green. Measuring more than 3.50m wide, this will be of limited appeal if you have to regularly navigate public highways during harvest.

Single-axle model

Kobzarenko produces a wide range of trailers, chaser bins and grain loading-related kit in its native Ukraine and in Poland. The featured PBN-20 is the largest single-axle model in the 9.0-50m³ offering, but it is also available as a tandem-axle version. Regardless of running gear, both share the same bin with a funnel-shaped bottom and made from 4mm sheet steel. The upper 1.16m   high sides use 3mm thick profiled sheets and are bolted together. Indeed, the build quality and two-pack paint finish in dark green made a good impression. Other colours are available as an option. Our particular machine had the extra-cost roll-over cover (€695), which is manually operated from the ground with a long crank handle and is easy to do. If you want a reduced-effort alternative, an electric version is also on the options list. Down in the bottom of the funnel is a 4.70m long, 40cm diameter auger that transfers the grain longitudinally to the unloading auger up front. The slides above the floor auger open hydraulically, their current position shown by a mechanical indicator at the front.
