REPORT: Forest of Bere Farm, Hampshire: Dispersal sale demand. Prices at on-farm sales across the south of England remain buoyant for tidy, well-kept kit, despite increased interest rates and depressed commodity prices. That said, there are still bargains to be had.
With fewer deals being done on new kit the amount of decent trade-ins has massively reduced. As a result, we’re seeing even greater demand than ever for the used machinery that is available,” says Symonds and Sampson auctioneer, Greg Ridout. “Our last two dispersal sales have seen incredibly strong trade for tidy barn-stored equipment – a lot of it making more that it was new. While the dealers might be holding off a little, farmers are prepared to bid good money for decent, genuine gear.”
