Big stones can cause big problems, but, like so many things, there is a mechanical solution. French firm D Gutzwiller, from Alsace, showed us how it goes about clearing stones from fields and how the harvested aggregate can then be used for road maintenance
If the farm you grew up on had lots of stone, you’ll no doubt recall the ‘fun times’ of hand picking the bigger rocks so they wouldn’t damage machinery. Even today it still makes sense to remove stones, especially if they can be utilised elsewhere such as for road maintenance or providing back-fill when undertaking other construction projects.
