The current Fendt 300 comes in three flavours: Power, Profi and Profi+. We wanted to see if the change in spec makes much of a difference, which is why we tested both the 314 Vario Power and the Profi+.
If you are not familiar with the details, you’ll be hard pressed to tell there is a near 22,000 difference between the two Fendt 314s in the photo above. A closer examination reveals that the clear lacquer paint finish on the roof and chromed badges on the bonnet are missing from the lower spec Power, and so are the LED rear lights.
But these are superficial details compared to some of the other differences, as we found out while using the tractors for several weeks.
Four-pot with up to 152hp
All four models in the 300 series (83kW/113hp104kW/142hp) employ the same engine and transmission. As on the previous generation, this is a 4.4-litre AGCO Power, four-cylinder. In order to comply with Stage V, the compact exhaust system now includes a DOC, DPF and SCR but it no longer needs EGR. Other changes to the AGCO motor include maintenance-free hydraulic tappets as well as an electronically
controlled viscous fan. There is the option of a Hägele reversible fan but not as a factory
fit as with other makes.
The Fendt brochure states rated power as 97kW/132hp, with a max of 104kW/142hp. In addition to this is ‘DynamicPerformance’,bringing an extra 7kW/10hp; Fendt points out that this is not a pto/hydraulic boost in the true sense, but it is active when ancillaries (such as the air-con compressor) require some extra oomph.
