Renowned for its low ground pressure capability, the Agribuggy self-propelled sprayer now sits anew cab and tank atop its familiar undercarriage. Andrew Faulkner reports from Gloucestershire
The Buggy is back. Not that it has ever really gone. But this time it’s on the market in just the one model format, complete with a new cab and manufacturer to boot.
Most of the above changes stem from the sad demise of T J Frazier, the Yorkshire-based firm that went into voluntary liquidation last year and whose name has been synonymous with Agribuggy since the project was instigated in the early 1980s. But fortunately for those many Agribuggy advocates still devoted to the machine’s power/weight ratio principles, the diminutive sprayer survived the year 2000 turmoil and has been taken on and tweaked by former distributor, Gloucs-based Kellands Agricultural Spraying Supplies. Hence the Agribuggy TDI 2000 featured here.
So what’s changed? To be honest, not much – apart from the cab and tank features already mentioned. The power/weight ratio thinking behind the original Frazier is still much in evidence, and most of the mechanical hardware is shared with the old Stealth machine, the flagship before the previous Agribuggy line-up was discontinued.
