The new Deutz-Fahr 5C is powered by an engine from Deutz, through a gearbox from SAME Deutz-Fahr — and the whole caboodle is assembled in Treviglio, Italy. Here are our initial impressions of the 69kW/95hp (rated), Stage IIIB-compliant DF 5100C

Stylish bonnet, smart livery, LED daytime running lights — there’s no escaping the Italian influence on a tractor that has self-evident aesthetic appeal. Put simply, it looks the biz.

Lift that sassy hood and underneath you’ll find an equally cheeky four-cylinder, 3.6-litre TCD 3.6 LO4 motor complete with two valve technology and, to comply with Stage IIIB emissions regs, a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and exhaust gas recirculation (but no particulate filters). At rated speed this engine delivers 63kW/85hp to 83kW/113hp, depending on which of the four 5090C to 5120C models you pick.

Again depending on the model, maximum engine output ranges from 89hp to 118hp, with only the flagship of the four-model range boasting a viscous fan as standard fit. All versions, however, have electronic control, hence the presence of an easy-shift hand throttle lever and equally useful speed memory button. Excellent
