Claas claims its latest 5000 and 6000 Lexion straw-walker combines are able to swallow up to 25% more
material than the outgoing design. To prove the point the company put its range-topping 6900 to the test
on the German island of Rugen on August 9th. We were there to validate the results
Back in 1995, Claas promised that its new hybrid design Lexion 480 model would break through the 40t/hr barrier … and the rest, as they say, is history. Twenty years on, the combine maker from Harsewinkel now believes its strawwalker combine can manage the same output. So, with the gauntlet duly thrown, the flagship of the new generation of Lexion walkers, a 6900 with Cemos Automatic and 10.80m Convio draper header, was shipped off to the Knyphausen Estate near Kluis on the island of Rugen, where a 10ha field of winter wheat was ready for the knife.
