DRIVING IMPRESSION Chafer’s Interceptor has gone through a considerable gestation period, but models are now finally rolling off the British manufacturer’s production line in Lincolnshire

Chafer’s return to the self-propelled sprayer market comes as no big surprise. It is, after all, a marketplace that accounts for around 400 machines each year in the UK and is currently twice the volume of the UK’s trailed sprayer sector.

Since the termination of Chafer’s agreement to supply kit for Rogators in 2011, the British firm has been looking for a way to return to the SP sector. Enter the Interceptor — an all-new design of sprayer that is built in-house using Chafer’s proven spray pack and including its own electronics to handle sprayer control. A smaller machine, called Defender, will follow later this year: think Interceptor, but scaled down a bit.
