In our previous used Merlo telehandler buying guides (09/15) we focussed more upon the mainstream ‘medium-duty’ models offering a nominal capacity of 3.5 tonnes plus. Here we turn our attention to the popular ‘compact’ Merlo P32.6 with its Kubota Stage IIIB power unit and its 2017 replacement, the Deutz driven Stage IV Merlo TF 33.7-115. Respective widths and lift capacities are 2,000mm and 2,100mm and 3.2 and 3.3tonnes. Is choosing the right model for your needs as simple as selecting the newest model you can afford?
In 2013, Merlo moved to Kubota power for its P32.6 telehandler, the revised machine essentially retaining the same cab, chassis, boom and running gear as its Perkins powered predecessor and also sticking with the Plus, Plus L (low cab) and Top specifications. Then in 2017, the P32.6 was replaced by the Deutz powered Merlo TF33.7-115, this pretty much all-new model coming with just the Top spec choice.
