The dimensions, 4.5m lift height and 1.25t payload are the same, but the Stage V engine is not the only update on Weidemann’s T4512 compact telehandler, which comes with a new cab and drive system.

Yanmar still supplies the engines, but the power from the Stage V blocks is down from 31hp to 25hp (no after-treatment system) on the basic version and up from 40hp to 45hp (DPF and DOC on 45hp engine) on the more powerful option.

The new ecDrive (Electric Control Drive) is claimed to increase the basic engine performance. There are four drive modes. The auto mode ensures maximum performance. In eco-mode, the engine speed reduces to 2200rpm once the desired driving speed has been reached. The two other optional drive modes are designed for use with hydraulically-operated attachments.

The smaller engine has a top speed of 20km/hr. The 45hp is available in 20km/hr or 30km/hr versions. The hydraulics operate at 28.6lit/min (42lit/min and 70lit/min options) and the tank has been increased to 33 litres.

There are two new steering options; front-wheel steer and crab steer, and the electric handbrake provides an auto-hold function, in addition to the hill-hold function. The brake is applied automatically when the machine comes to a standstill, is in neutral or when the operator leaves the cab.

A three-pin plug socket, fold-down armrest with storage compartment, drinks holder and storage net are now standard in the cab, with the option of a radio and a USB connection.

Front, rear and roof windscreen wipers are fitted as standard and the retractable blind protects the operator from being dazzled by the sun. The heated rear window is fitted with a windscreen wiper and the sloping engine bonnet improves operator visibility to the right.

Other features include LED work lights, a new heating and ventilation system, and the red cab roof is the same as that fitted to other Weidemann models.
