Valtra has big plans to grow its business, not just in Europe, but also in others areas of the world, including Africa. Currently active in 13 of the 54 African countries, the plan for 2016 is to add Valtra dealers in 13 more different markets and increase the coverage of the Continent to 44%. Parent company AGCO not only sees scope to sell more Valtra tractors in Africa (current fleet over 4,000), but is also pursuing possibilities for other Valtra equipment, and the intention is to sell the newly-launched and Brazilian-made BE 1035e (350hp) self-propelled sugar cane harvester, in Africa. AGCO has made steady progress in Africa. During the period from 2009 to 2015, the concern’s share of the tractor and farm machinery market has risen from 12 to 24% and sales from US$50 million to US$270 million.
