Väderstad says that its seed rate calculator allows users to easily convert between seed volume and seed population metrics from kg/ha to seeds/m² or plants/m².
Suitable for use from an office computer, or a mobile device in the field, users can select between metric and imperial variants. Once the crop has been selected, the user then has to choose between seed volume (kg/ha) or seed population (plants/m²). The thousand grain weight and germination rate for the seed (normally included on the bag) are then inputted.
Other steps include entering the field size and an estimation of expected field losses due to weather conditions and pests. The operator is then provided with a calculated seed rate to reach the selected target.
Instead of entering the data manually each time, it is also possible to choose one of nine pre-set standard values for thousand grain weight and germination.
