Visitors attending next week’s Cereals Event will get their first look at the second generation prototype of New Holland’s Methane Power tractor. Based on a standard T6.180, and powered by a 175hp (129kW) NEF 6 engine, the 300-litres (52kg) of compressed methane stored in the nine gas cylinders are sufficient for approximately half a day of normal operation. Fuel savings of 20% to 40% are claimed when compared to conventional fuels, and emissions are reportedly cut by 80%.
