It’s not often that a new conventional baler comes onto the market but after a season of field testing Bale Baron UK had an unusual in-line unit on display at Lamma.
The Paksan Hammer stands tall and differs from other similar machines such as Massey Ferguson’s 1840 in having a feed rotor to draw crop off the pick-up and propel it into the stuffer pre-chamber.
This design is what apparently gives the Turkish-built baler its edge. By ensuring a constant uniform crop flow it is able to pump out 650-700 bales an hour in the right conditions – 30%-40% increase over existing equivalents.
Key in maintaining chamber pressures, folding wedges make chamber clearance easier and hydraulic bale density adjustment is an option as is a third knotter for haylage applications.
Prices start from £24,000.
