Kuhn Farm Machinery has added the first folding models to the HR 1030 R power harrow range. The company has also extended its mechanical combination seed drill range with the Sitera 100 series.
Starting with power harrows, the HR 5030 R (5m) and HR 6030 R (6m), the new flagship models in the range, are suitable for tractors up to 350hp. Joining the existing rigid models from 3m-4.5m, the new folding versions are aimed at operators looking to increase outputs and make transitioning between fields quicker.
The single beam design on the HR 1030 R machines is said to allow easy access to the gearbox and transmissions for maintenance, while rear lift requirements are lower thanks to a close coupling design. Existing options featured on the new models include working depth and levelling bar adjustment in manual or hydraulic format.
Kuhn has also added a 6m model to the larger high output folding power harrow range. Suitable for tractors up to 460hp, the HR 6042 joins the larger 7m and 8m models in the range. The HR 6042 R comes with an oil cooler to protect the reinforced central gearbox from overheating during long days. Two side duplex gearboxes make it possible for the operator to adjust rotor speed to suit ground conditions.
The 6m HR 6042 R joins the larger 7m and 8m folding power harrow models.
Kuhn’s Fast-Fit tine fitting system is standard, and a choice of three rollers is available; 520mm, 535mm and 590mm. Track eradicators to loosen soil behind the wheels are also available. Price of the HR 5030 R starts at £47,440. The HR 6042 R costs from £56,375.
Expanded Sitera mounted drill range
The working width of the three models (310, 320 and 330) in the new Sitera 100 series is 3.0m. Extending Kuhn’s range of mechanical combination seed drills, all three models come in 20 or 24-row configurations with 15 and 12.5 cm spacings respectively.
The key difference between each model is the coulter arrangement. The 310 is equipped with Suffolk coulters, the 320 with single-disc coulters, and the 330 with the firm’s Seedflex 100 seeding units (double disc coulters arranged over two rows on a parallelogram and press wheel set-up).
Each seed drill has a 600-litre hopper, with the seeding unit fixed to the roller of the power harrow. The design positions the weight closer to the tractor, allowing a closer centre of gravity to the tractor and a reduced rear lift capacity.
Standard equipment includes the Helica volumetric helical spline metering unit, but users seeking increased ease of use can add an electrically driven version. This allows easier setup via an automatic calibration button and manual adjustment of seed application rate from the tractor cab using the terminal, or automatically via GPS. Automatic seed control during headland turns via section control is optional.
Aimed at tractors from 100-250hp, all three models are compatible with the firm’s HRB 302, HRB 303, HR 304 and HR 3004 power harrows.
In-cab controls for non-ISObus tractors include Kuhn’s VT 30, CCI 800 or CCI 1200 terminals, which are also popular with users wanting to keep ISObus and tractor functions separate. The VT 30 offers metering and drive wheel monitoring, tramline control, work records and a low-level seed sensor.
Prices start at £17,135 for the Sitera 320 M at 15cm row spacings, while the 320E with 12.5cm rows costs from £20,565.
