The colourful livery on this T5.140 Dynamic Command is designed to celebrate New Holland’s sponsorship of this year’s Giro d’Italia cycling race. The result of work at CNH Industrial’s design centre, the tractor’s customised wrapping is inspired by the pink jersey (maglia rosa) worn by the race’s general classification leader.
Along with the Tour de France and the Spanish Vuelta, the Giro is one of the most important cycling races on the international circuit and the colourful tractor will follow the 3,410km (21 stages) route of the 105th edition of the Italian race.
Joining the spectators supporting the 176 riders at the arrival at the end of each of the 21 stages, the tractor will stop along the way to meet cycling enthusiasts in local farming communities.
The iconic maglia rosa was introduced in 1931 to make it easier to identify the race leader in the peloton. The idea came from Armando Cougnet, a journalist at La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian sports newspaper that created the Giro d’Italia and was printed on pink paper.
This year’s edition of the Italian race starts in Budapest in Hungary on May 6, 2022, and ends on May 29 in the Italian city of Verona.
