A straw chopper has been added to the options list for Siloking’s SelfLine 4.0 self-propelled mixer wagons.

Designed to quickly process large quantities of straw, the full-width and hydraulically driven unit is mounted directly behind the milling head. Claimed benefits include faster loading, reduced fuel usage due to the shorter mixing times and less selective feeding.

Push-button operated from inside the cab, in chopping mode, the flow of forage is diverted to the straw chopper by a flap that swivels into the intake elevator. It depends on the material, but chop length is from 2.0-4.0cm. The chopped straw is returned to the intake elevator and into the mixing tub.

Available for fitting to the recently-launched SelfLine 300+, and new 500+ and 1000+ models, the straw chopper cannot be retro-fitted to existing machines.
