The 16 rotors on the trailed HIT16.18T combine to produce a working width of 17.0m, the widest so far from the Austrian company.
Aimed at large farms wanting to produce high quality forage as quickly as possible, the new top model sits above the previous widest 12-rotor 12.14T (12.7m).
The newcomer is fitted with the same six swept tine arms on each of the 1.42m diameter Dynatech rotors as the rest of the HIT T range. Located close to the leading arc of the tines, the company says the two large chassis wheels act as oversized jockey wheels for the rotors, allowing them to follow undulations. Each rotor also adapts independently to follow ground contours.
The 16.18T features the hydraulically-operated Liftmatic Plus technology from the rest of the range. This moves the rotors into the horizontal position before raising them at the headland for a ground clearance of 90cm. The Austrian manufacturer says the intelligent control system prevents tines from scraping or penetrating the ground, helping to reduce contamination.
The two rotors on the outer right-hand side can be folded to the rear by 15 degrees when working on the headland. Operated hydraulically from the tractor cab, the two diagonal rotors spread the material over the mown area without forming a swath resulting in a cleared strip around the edge of the field.
Like the rest of the range, the two wings fold to the centre and then to the front, resting on the frame for transport. The transport dimensions are width (2.9m), length (6.7m) and height (2.9m). The tyre size of the standard transport wheels is 380/55-17. There is a 500/50-17 option. Tractor power requirement is around 100hp. Keen to know more? There is a demonstration machine in the UK.
