It depends on the terrain, but the lightweight design and short headstock of the Novacat V 8400 (8.4m) and V 9200 (9.2m) combi mowers is said to make them suitable for working with 120hp to 160hp tractors.
Sitting below the Novacat V 10000 (10.0m) launched last year and designed for outputs of up to 10ha/hr (V 8400) and 12ha/hr (V 9200), the standard spec includes a hydraulic collision safety device.
Working widths can be adjusted to 8.12m or 8.36m on the V 8400 and to 8.95m or 9.20m on the V 9200. Centre pivot mounting provides a floating travel of +20°/-16° and hydraulic weight transfer is said to generate a uniform ground pressure over the full width of the cutter bar.
Available with swath formers, tine or roller conditioners, the standard Basicline control terminal enables each mower unit to be lifted separately or together by just one spool valve at the push of a toggle switch.
The retractable front guard provides plenty of space when attaching and detaching the mowers.
Automatic individual mower lifting with the optional ISO-bus compatible Selectline pre-select terminal is said to make it easier to knock-down wedge-shaped fields.
Transport width is 2.87m and weights are from 1.8t to 2.6t.
Both mowers fold upwards through 92° and are hydraulically locked in position for transport. With the side guards folded (hydraulic option) transport heights are 3.60m (V 8400) and 3.99m (V 9200). Warning signs and LED lights are standard.
