The aim of the Slurry Gas Buster is to push fresh air into buildings while the underground slurry store is being agitated. Cavan based Clare Engineering says it took some time to find a fan with adequate capacity and the chosen 1.25m unit has an output of 50,000m3/hour.
The €8,000 machine on display is pto powered with Clare Engineering’s Vincent Brady saying a Massey 135 will not only safely handle the machine but also power it. They are also looking at electric and hydraulic driven units with pallet fork slots or loader quick attach couplings for moving the unit.
Mr Brady added he was surprised by the number of people who have been affected by either the loss of stock or people to the toxic gasses emitted during slurry agitation, with one show goer stating to him that “yes the machine is expensive but cheaper than a funeral” which puts things into perspective.
