Wicklow firm Go 2 Mill has come up with this chainsaw based device for planking timber. For €259 you get the carriage complete with threaded rod which has an 8mm hole at one end and 10mm at the other allowing it to be mated with most chainsaws.
The carriage slides on 50x50mm box section which the user supplies so they can purchase the required length. The package does include the plates which need to be welded to the box section allowing the newly formed rail to be mounted to the host timber. There is some additional tweaking which can be done to get the saw running square. Every full revolution of the nut on the threaded rod results in a 2.5mm offset with a red dot on the nut making it easier to identify the number of turns.
