AGCO’s engine manufacturing business is not only celebrating its 75th anniversary this year but also the production of the one millionth block, which recently left the production line at the Finnish factory in Linnavuori.

The AGCO Power (Sisu) engine business makes three, four, six and seven-pot blocks at three other plants in Changzhou (China), Mogi das Cruzes (Brazil) and General Rodriguez (Argentina). Production volumes are currently running at more than 100,000 engines a year and more than 70% of AGCO products are now powered by an in-house developed engine.

During its 75-year history of making diesel engines the name of the company has changed several times, the most recent being when AGCO acquired Valtra and Sisu Diesel from the Kone Corporation in 2004. The engine business was initially renamed as AGCO Sisu Power, which was later changed to the current name.

Looking ahead, the engine business continues to invest in research and development and is actively exploring renewable fuel alternatives and electric solutions.
