New styling and tech for 6S

Sharing its exterior looks with the 8S, 5S and new 7S ranges, Massey Ferguson’s new five-model range of 6S tractors peaks with the 180hp 6S.180, which generates a maximum power of 200hp.

Replacing the 6700S Series, the new four-pot models are said to deliver the power and torque of a larger six-cylinder model, but with all the benefits of a smaller (2.67m wheelbase) tractor and the 4.75m turning radius is claimed as the tightest available from any 200hp tractor.

Examples of controls first seen on the 8S tractors include the new Multipad and brighter and clearer 9” Datatronic 5 touch-screen terminal. The 70dBA cab also contains a new air conditioning system.

Finished with leather trim and improved ventilation, the standard air-suspended and heated seat is equipped with a damping system that responds automatically to bumps. Further improving comfort is the optional mechanical or active mechanical cab suspension, as well as the suspended front axle option.

For Exclusive and Efficient versions, there is also a new armrest, which is linked to the seat, containing everything drivers need to operate the engine, transmission, hydraulics, linkage and PTO as well as switches for the radio and phone.

The transmission choice on all models is the Dyna-VT Super Eco, or the Dyna-6 Super-Eco, semi-powershift with AutoDrive. The new Super Eco version of the Dyna-VT reduces fuel consumption by achieving 40km/hr at 1,450rpm.

Rear lift capacity is up to 9.6t and the standard hydraulic flow is 110lit/min. For those requiring more flow there is a 150lit/min option Dyna-6 models, while Dyna-VT tractors, come with a 190lit/min option.

Other options include mechanical or active mechanical cab suspension and a suspended front axle. The 6S.165 and 6S.180 can be specified with the latest Michelin VF650/60R42 rear tyres. A new option for Exclusive and Efficient versions enables the radio and mobile phone and play media to be operated through the Datatronic 5 screen.

Selected 6S models can come equipped with an integrated, factory-fitted loader sub-frame, along with an FL Series loader already fitted. Loader operators will welcome the Visio Roof option and the new E-Loader option provides control and setting of the new bucket shake facility. This automatically operates spool valves to assist filling and emptying the bucket or fork. More details next week.
