John Deere reckons that its new premium XUV865R Gator is its most comfortable cross-over utility vehicle range to date.
Standard R trim specification includes a CVT with on-demand four-wheel drive, power steering, fully independent four-wheel suspension and an attachment-ready electrical system.
Powered by an 854cc three-cylinder, liquid-cooled OHV diesel engine producing 23hp at 3600rpm, the newcomer is described as combining the performance of the XUV865M with additional operator friendly features.
One of these is the new fully enclosed and fully equipped cab, which provides car-style seating for up to three people when driving off-road. It also comes with automotive-style controls conveniently located in the centre of the dash, easy-opening door handles, a fully opening windscreen and a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
The R trim specification also includes a wide range of additional standard features, including an adjustable 40/60 bench seat, tiltable steering wheel, sun visors, a windshield wiper and washer plus electrical wiring for attachments, and high- and low-beam LED headlights.
The cargo box is made from a composite material that not only eliminates rust and dents but also reduces noise. There is an automotive style tailgate handle and the rear lights are available with optional protectors. The cargo box can be converted to a flat-bed and has a load capacity of 454kg, while towing capacity is 900kg and total payload is 680kg.
The 4wd system has an auto-locking front differential and dash-mounted electronic rocker switch. With a top speed of 50km/hr (31mph) in high range, the XUV865R Gator comes with a 42-litre fuel tank.
