Horsch says its new mounted Maestro drill is ideal for farms that desire the precision of the Maestro but do not need the capacity of its trailed CC and SW stablemates. Suitable for high-speed drilling (up to 12km/hr) of crops including maize, sunflowers, sugar beet and rapeseed, the mounted versions are available in either 8-row with 70cm, 75cm and 80cm row spacing, or 12-row configurations with 45cm or 50cm spacing.  Each row has a 70-litre seed hopper feeding its own seed metering device, and the electronic brushless motor driving each unit requires only one amp per row unit, so even the 12-row drill can be powered by standard tractor electrics. The metering system uses a metering disc with outward facing open slots. An integrated grain sensor registers the number of grains sown and their distance apart, with placement accuracy shown on the screen in the tractor cab. Coulter pressure can be adjusted to a maximum of 300kg on the move from the same screen, and the mounted Maestro can be used with the 1600-litre front-mounted Partner 1600 FT tank.
