More power, fully automatic in-field speed adjustments, and a new optional premium comfort cab are the main updates on the latest wheeled and Platinum Terra Trac versions of Grimme’s Varitron 470 four-row self-propelled potato harvester.
The 10.7-litre six-pot Stage V Mercedes-Benz engine generates a maximum power of 460hp (340kW), an increase on the 435hp (320kW) on the previous models.
A leather driver’s seat with extra high back is included in the optional premium comfort cab.
Creature comforts inside the optional and quieter premium comfort cab include a leather driver’s seat with extra high back, active ventilation, seat heating and air suspension. A large cooling box and a radio with a hands-free kit are also included as are windscreen wipers and sun blinds on all windows.
The company says that two assistance systems based on the Speedtronic automatic control system ensure that the harvester can always be driven in the optimum range between capacity and gentle crop handling.
A bunker chain greasing system is standard on 2020 machines.
Speedtronic-Web increases throughput by automatically adjusting the main web speed in relation to the working speed.
Should the pressure of the hydraulic system exceed pre-set limits then the speed of the Speedtronic-Elevator is temporarily increased to avoid blockages in the ring elevator.
2020 versions of the Varitron 470 are fitted as standard with a bunker chain greasing system.
