The six-pot 15.6-litre Mercedes-Benz block in the two new flagship Claas Xerions develops up to 585hp in the 12.590 and 653hp in the 12.650. Maximum torque is 2850 and 3100Nm, respectively, and both tractors are available on dual wheels or rubber tracks.
Like all Claas tractors, the new Xerions are equipped with the latest generation Cmatic CVT, which in the Terra Trac model reaches a top speed of 40km/hr at 1400rpm.
Driver comfort was a priority during the development phase and the cab has been stretched by 27cm at the front, and factory-fitted footrests can be installed on the left and right of the steering column and on the right-hand A-pillar. The driver’s seat is available in three versions with standard upholstery or optional high-quality cotton or leather upholstery and can be rotated by 40 degrees to the right.
Key functions are operated and monitored via the armrest with CMotion multifunction control lever and Cebis touchscreen terminal. This standard control concept is now available for all Claas tractors from 125hp to 653hp.
Integrating both exhaust gas aftertreatment and exhaust system into the right-hand side of the chassis below the cab is said to result in good all-round visibility. The new four-point cab suspension system improves comfort, and further de-coupling the cab from the chassis helps to reduce noise and vibration levels.
Developed by Claas Industrietechnik in Paderborn (Germany), the new positively-driven crawler track assemblies combine steering axles with two auxiliary steering cylinders per axle. The triangular crawler tracks assemblies are said to achieve the same level of efficiency with 30 or 36 inch-wide (762 or 914 mm) belts.
Up to three hydraulic pumps and eight spool valves are available (max. 537lit/min) and the two 12 series models are available with a full package for ISObus and precision farming applications.
The new flagship Xerions are expected to be available in the UK early next year.
