The latest versions of Cat´s 906, 907, and 908M series compact wheel loaders are said to provide larger wheel loader model comfort on a smaller platform. Bucket capacities have also been increased.
The C2.8 Stage V block delivers the same 74hp max. power as the previous engine, but delivers 13% more torque. Top speed of the shift-on-the-go transmission is 40km/hr. Fuel tank capacity is almost a third larger on the 906 (12% for the 907 and 908) and the reversing-fan option is new.
The raised floor pedals and two door format has been retained, but the cab is now sealed and pressurised. Larger standard side mirrors are said to improve operator visibility, and the single-piece front and rear windows provide 60% better wiper coverage.
The multifunction joystick controls travel direction and speed, proportional auxiliary flow, differential lock, and constant hydraulic flow without operators removing their hand from it.
Claimed as a first for this class size, new in-cab-programmable kickouts with high-definition rotary sensors mounted to the loader arms are said to better protect operators from unwanted shock and vibration due to buckets striking the ground and/or hitting dump stops at max height. Push-button operated from inside the cab, the system is claimed to save up to 20% of bucket cutting edge life.
Providing real-time machine operating information, the control monitor allows the operator to configure hydrostatic transmission response, auto engine idle shutdown and a utility powertrain mode is said to provide a more intuitive means of controlling ground and engine speed when working with attachments.
All models have a new standard pressure compensated valve. This allows operators to simultaneously control implements and operate hydro-mechanical attachments.
The options list includes LED lighting, premium heated and ventilated seat, parabolic lens electric and heated mirrors, front and rear cameras and a high/lift configuration for the 908.
