Merlo showed a second fully electric concept of its Turbofarmer 30.9 at the Italian Eima show.
The Italian manufacturer previewed its first electric telehandler (TFe 43.7) one year ago at Agritechnica 2023. The TFe 30.9 on display at the Italian show differs in terms of the integration of the electric pack.
Sharing its exterior styling with the diesel model, the lithium-ion battery pack concealed within the engine bay powers separate electric motors to drive the transmission, boom and hydraulics.
The ultimate aim is to develop a solution that provides eight hours of operation from a single charge. There are still a few things to tweak, and the company is keen to put battery life expectancy and number of charges to the test, but the plan is to have an electric handler in the price list within the next 12-24 months.
The modular electric pack essentially fits all Merlo handlers, and we are told to expect to see more electric models in the future. In the meantime, an electric Turbofarmer could make it to the Merlo stand at Lamma in January.
