Slotting into the range between the slightly smaller 85-113hp X5 Series and larger 111-140hp X6.4 Series tractors, the new mid-range additions to McCormick’s X6 range include the 110hp (max output) X6.35, 119hp X6.45 and range-topping 126hp X6.55. Described as an interesting proposition for small to medium size livestock farms, this is the first time that a McCormick of this size has been available with cab suspension, touch screen monitor, ISOBUS implement control and GPS steering.

Expected to be available from late April, power to all three tractors comes from a Deutz 3.6-litre four-pot engine (also used in the 90-107hp X4 Series). The standard power shuttle transmission provides manually selected gears (12×12 and 16×16 creep), while the three-speed powershift provides quick speed changes (36×12 and 48×16 creep) under load. An Eco option, which delivers 40km/hr at lower engine revs, and four-speed pto with Economy gearing for both 540 and 1000rpm, help optimise fuel economy on the road or when powering pto-driven equipment. A 66lit/min gear pump for hydraulic services is complemented by a 30lit/min pump dedicated to steering and control functions such as the hydraulic pto and 4wd clutches, and the rear lift is rated at 6t.

“The new models provide an attractive option for operators wanting extra power and performance over the X5 Series tractors – or similar models from other manufacturers – but who are not ready for the jump to the X6.4 range,” says sales director and general manager Ray Spinks at McCormick distributor AgriArgo UK & Ireland.
