The latest merger from Austrian maker Reiter is the R8 Compact. This has a working width of 8.0m when grouping to the centre or 6.0m when placing the crop to the side.
Compared to the R9 there is a massive weight saving of 30% thanks to a new chassis design. The 4,300kg machine still uses two belts but these are mounted on a shorter parallel linkage.
The four wheel design aids contour following and there is a new suspension system too. The pickup design has also been tweaked on the €80,000 machine which can be run on a 100hp tractor.
A limited number of pre-series machines will be working next season from the company which had a turnover of €6.3 million in 2022.
The R8 Compact will be on the Reiter stand at Agritechnica. The show starts on Sunday.
