Suitable for establishing a wide range of crops from herbs and grasses to cereals and maize, Claydon reckons its new Evolution mounted drill range takes direct strip seeding to the next level. The nine models span working widths from 3.00m-6.00m. The launch will take place at LAMMA 2022.
Set to replace the current Hybrid mounted drills, at the heart of all Evolutions is the company’s tried and tested two-tine technology which Suffolk arable farmer Jeff Claydon developed in 2002.
New features include hydraulically controlled seed depth adjustment and improved access to the metering unit allows for easier calibration.
The 1,910-litre hopper on seed-only models holds 160 litres more than the current Hybrid mounted models, while the 2,700-litre split (50:50 seed and fertiliser) tank on the 3.00m (3MF) and 4.00m (4MRF) holds an additional 600 litres.
The Evolution is available in working widths of 3.00m, 4.00m, 4.50m, 4.80m, 5.00m and 6.00m (pictured).
Standard on all models is a hydraulic fan, Artemis metering control, tramlining facility, front tine/7″ A-share configuration, together with a double rear toolbar and road lights.
Front-mounted discs which are operated hydraulically from the tractor seat can be specified for seeding into high residue situations. Quick-fit knock-on/knock-off coulter options are also available for the standard leading tine and A-Share to low disturbance twin disc and tine options are available.
Other options include GPS variable seed rate capability, pre-emergence marker arms, front disc toolbar stone protection, micro fertiliser applicator, slug pelleter, blockage sensors and a light and vision kit.
Typical daily outputs range from 20ha for the 3.00m model which requires a tractor of at least 150hp to 40ha for the 6.00m version which needs a minimum of 300hp.
The new range will be available for delivery from autumn 2022. The Evolution will be priced between the Hybrid mounted range it supersedes and the Hybrid trailed drill range.
