There was something of a theme among the muckspreader manufacturers at LAMMA. Rear- discharge machines are getting bigger. One of the contributors to this trend is Suffolk-based Richard Western, which has recently extended its standard-build, single-axle family up to 15t capacity with the launch of the D4150 model. Main changes on the new flagship run to a single-slat floor, 20mm chain, seven-tooth sprockets for better chain grip, larger diameter beaters, a wider back-end for a more even spread, a beefier axle … and so it goes on. Price of the D4150 is £39,188, and Richard Western says a tractor of around 200hp is required up front.
