Kverneland has updated its wide-working 9.0m and 12.0m DG drills. The DG II is said to have improved folding and in-work balance to maintain a positive load on the tractor.
“The DG II’s cross-shaft is carried on the tractor’s lower link arms, and it gains a hydraulic weight transfer system that automatically tightens under the lower link arms as the drill is folded and unfolded,” explains product manager, Graham Owen. “This clever weight transfer system also makes it easier to operate the DG II with a much smaller, lighter tractor – typically, 200-250hp.”
Continuing the weight distribution theme is ‘Active-on’ which is said to maintain up to 80kg of pressure on each of the CD double disc coulters.
The DG II also benefits from two electrically driven seed metering units to look after each half of the drill. Seed rates can vary from 2-320kg/ha with variable seed rate control. Each distributor can be fitted with seed flow monitoring to warn of blockages to the 72 (9.0m) or 96 (12.0m) coulters. The 6,000-litre hopper is seed only.
ISObus controls allow full headland management for the hydraulic functions. On the options list for the £90,347 drill is a hydraulically operated clod board, 12mm finger tines instead of the S-tine following harrow, track eradicators, bout markers and LED lighting.
