Kubota Corporation will unveil its first 300hp diesel engine at the ConExpo 2020 construction show, which starts tomorrow in Las Vegas.
Developed by Kubota Engine America, the S7509 is a compact 7.5-litre, six-cylinder direct injection block. Meeting Stage V engine emission regulations, mass production will begin in 2023.
“The S7509 will further expand the 09 series and Kubota’s goal is to become the number one supplier of engines up to 300hp,” said Tomokazu Matsushita, president of Kubota Engine America.
Kubota has never made a secret of plans to develop more powerful tractors, which in North America has resulted in a joint project with Versatile to build the Cummins-powered M8 (max. 210hp) for Canada and North America.
Currently, the most powerful in-house made engine in a Kubota tractor is a 170hp four-pot version in the M7s. It remains to be seen whether the company has plans to come with a 300hp tractor.
