Feeding zero grazed grass to dairy cows during the summer is increasing in popularity in the Netherlands. The FGM (Fresh Grass Spreader) developed by Dutch manufacturer Kemp Machines divides it between the left and right feed fences.
Still in the testing phase, the FGM is available with one or two hydraulically powered vertical drums. The manufacturer says that material is moved gently to the feed fence with the minimum of grass damage. Plastic wear strips at the bottom of each drum prevent it from damaging the concrete.
There will also be a non-powered version that pushes the fresh grass towards the feed fence. Both powered and non-powered variants, which should be added to Dutch price lists by the end of this year, can be equipped with different linkages to fit a wide range of tractors and loaders.
Located at Houten (near the Dutch city of Utrecht), Kemp Machines, which was founded in 1998, is seeking UK and Irish dealers for its products. These include slurry scrapers, silage pushers and bale handlers.
