Engineered for tractors from 200hp to 500hp, the third generation of Pöttinger’s multi-purpose forage wagons have been given an attractive facelift, a new driveline and a number of other nifty features.
These include the hydraulically driven 2.3m-wide floating pick-up, which automatically adapts the tine speed from 75rpm-125rpm to match that of the tractor. This is said to result in less dragging effect and a better chop quality.
The new driveline sees the PTO drive a belt (powerband), which in turn drives the rotor. The technique is claimed to provide a smooth start up, deliver maximum power transfer in all conditions, provide a damping effect in changing load peaks and reduce maintenance.
Increasing the volume by 4.3m3 the new moveable front panel is uses an additional dynamometer bolt to measure the loading pressure on the drive belt with load cells on the two main cylinders controlling the movement of the front panel.
Lowering the scraper floor at the front by 250mm reduces the power required during loading, and the wide flat link chains have a breaking force of 13t.
Unloading speed is faster and now takes about a minute and if you want to use the Jumbo to transport maize silage, then it is said to be a 10-15 minute job to remove the pick-up. This reduces the weight of the wagon by 520kg.
The hydro-pneumatic tandem and tridem chassis is said to provide good stability on steep ground, better climbing ability on hills, in the clamp and on rough roads and the fine-tuned suspension increases driver comfort.
The newly designed load retention system cover comprises of two folding frame sections with a hydraulic chain drive mounted at the centre of the shaft.
