The details are limited this side of the event but visitors to next February’s French SIMA show will be able to see John Deere’s electric solution for tractors up to 300kW. Dubbed as the SESAM (Sustainable Energy Supply for Agricultural Machines) project, the diesel engine in the tractor heading to Paris has been swapped for a set of 130 kWh/670volt Li-ion batteries.
These provide power to two 150kW electric motors. The first is for the mechanical transmission, while the second is for other components, including the PTO and hydraulic pump.
