The latest version of JCB’s flagship S-series agricultural wheeled loader can be seen working on the silage clamp at ScotGrass today. New features for the 13.6-tonne 435S Agri include the spacious and quieter CommandPlus cab, which provides additional storage compartments, and a choice of new seat-mounted joysticks or fingertip-operated controls. Fitted with a larger 400-litre fuel tank, and powered by a 230hp 6.7-litre Cummins QSB Stage IV engine, the 435S retains a six-speed powershift transmission, but the Intelligent Clutch Cut Off brake pedal-activated transmission disconnect is new. Useful when digging into a heap of manure or other materials, the system progressively disconnects the drive clutch according to brake pedal pressure. JCB says this eases brake wear and tear while using engine revs to extract optimum power and flow from the 264-litre/min twin piston pump hydraulics package. New instruments provide more comprehensive information, and a second screen enables the operator to alter a number of machine parameters, including adjustment of the auto engine shut-off timer and engine fan reversing intervals. The latest cab also features new 360-degree LED lighting packages, electrically adjusted and heated external mirrors and new climate control air conditioning. There is also a new ‘set and forget’ adjustable steering column, a choice of new high-spec heated and air cooled suspension seats, an electric cool box and even a deep pile carpet option. Also on display at ScotGrass is the company’s all-new Loadall Agri Pro telehandler, which combines hydrostatic and powershift drive in the DualTech VT transmission.
